Where is my personal knowledge stored?
By default your personal knowledge is stored in a KnowHow database that resides in the folder ‘My documents’. You may decide to store your KnowHow database elsewhere.
Is it possible to share my personal knowledge?
Yes. You can store your KnowHow database in a shared folder. Anyone who wishes to use this knowledge base can connect to it. However, it is advised to limit the sharing of a knowledge base to a maximum of about 10 persons.
Is it possible to keep my KnowHow screen on top?
Yes. You find that option under the Tools menu.
Is it possible to have KnowHow running whenever I start my PC?
Yes. You find that option under the Tools menu.
Where is my KnowHow icon?
Your KnowHow icon is in the task bar. When you don’t see it, expand your task bar as the KnowHow icon may be hidden.
What is the significance of the tabs ‘General’ and ‘Specific’?
Information stored on the tab ‘General’ will be available throughout an application. Information stored on the tab ‘Specific’ will be available for the named screen. These two tabs only appear for well-known office applications and for recognised business applications. For other applications the KnowHow screen contains only one unnamed tab that can hold information for the named screen.
What are the system requirements of KnowHow?
Software requirements:
- Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows Vista.
- Microsoft .NET 2.0 or later.
- Microsoft MDAC 2.6 or later.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.
The installer will check for the requirements above and update your system if necessary with the required components.
Minimum hardware requirements:
Pentium processor 1.2 Ghz, 256 MB internal memory, 20 MB free disk space
